Laura

Showing a bit of mid-riff is a hot season trend, and while it’s not for everyone, as LAURA shows, if you can do it right, it’s a fantastic look. This is such a well put together outfit as LAURA really pulls all her colours together with her gorgeous floral skirt, from her necklace to her clutch, without looking too “matchy”.

LAURA was spotted looking fabulous at ROBINA TOWN CENTRE.

FIVE TOP VINTAGE TIPS:

1. AVOID HEAD-TO-TOE VINTAGE –  Rather choose one vintage piece you love and mix it in with modern items.

2. GO CLASSIC – Vintage doesn’t always equal cool. If you pick a frumpy or dated style it could look like you’re an actor in “West Side Story”, the musical. Rather pick something classic that retains it’s style over time, or get it altered (see below).

3. SHAPE IT UP – As I mentioned above, don’t be afraid to pick up a needle and thread (or if you’re like me, take it to someone to do) and adjust the item to fit better. Sometimes something as simple as taking up the hemline can totally transform a look.

4. HAVE FUN – Nowadays anything goes so get into your wardrobe and experiment with your vintage and newer pieces to find a look that suits you.

5. GET OUT OF YOUR COMFORT ZONE – If you haven’t worn vintage, you may be a bit nervous wearing it, especially if it’s not your usual style. The best thing to do is just go for it! Once you’ve worn it out once, you’ll feel more comfortable and confident wearing something different to your normal look the next time.

With the mercury dropping, there is nothing better than to wrap up warm and cosy.

This winter is about textures. Whether it’s fluffy knits, velvety fur or soft felt, if it feels good, it’s on-trend.

One of the hottest trends around at the moment is the PRINTED SHIFT. This cute 60’s inspired look is being seen everything this autumn as is perfect for our climate as it is light and cool, yet, just add stockings and boots and it will take you into the cooler months.

It’s also easy to dress up for a night on the town or wear casually with a pair of sandals.

Kori

Autumn/Winter 2103 has arrived in stores around the Coast and one of the top looks (continuing from last winter) is the FAUX-FUR VEST. It’s a throwback to the luxurious 1920’s (think THE GREAT GATSBY) and it will add a touch of glamorous to any outfit.

We love the KOOKAI scarf being worn by KORI (above).

MYF

Spotted at ROBINA TOWN CENTRE

While at ROBINA TOWN CENTRE the other day, I spotted these three ladies looking fabulous! I thought I’d take a snap of them as I just loved their quirky style.

Here are a few tips on how you can steal their glam look:

HEEL IT UP

A great pair shoes can really make an outfit. Banish those rubber thongs and get out those sexy stilettos to create a finished look.

PLAY WITH STYLE

While it’s great to stay on top of the trends, it really pays to have a bit of fun with fashion and experiment. Try things together that you usually wouldn’t think to combine, layer your clothes and mix your colours.

GET FEMININE

Push aside those boyfriend jeans and pull out your most girly frock. Not only will you look gorgeous, but wearing a pretty dress will make you feel fantastic.

PUT IN THE EFFORT

Yes, you may just be heading to the shops, but sometimes it pays to slap on that extra bit of lippy. Pretend you’re heading to your fav nightclub, put that bit of extra effort in and you won’t regret it!

WEAR IT WITH CONFIDENCE

Whatever you wear, if you do it with confidence, you’ll look fabulous!

Kim Kardashian

Peplum has been around for a few seasons now, and while some (myself included) thought it may be a fad, it seems to be standing the test of time. This curve-inducing look is a favourite of shapely celeb, KIM KARDASHIAN, but, as this style can tend to accentuate the bits we’d rather play down, she gets it right by often sticking to flattering black.

We spotted this cute look-alike dress at BAMBOO BLONDE at Pacific Fair.

Pink look

I love these cute BOND-EYE floral jeans I found at a reduced price at TRADE SECRET. I’ve teamed it up with a salmon pink jumper from ICE for an autumn look that won’t break the budget.

Chanel's LBJ

Late last year, Sydney hosted an exhibition of photographs of CHANEL’s iconic LITTLE BLACK JACKET. The show featured pictures of some big-names like CHARLOTTE CASIRAGHI and SARAH JESSICA PARKER (above). Since then the Little Black Jacket or LBJ has made a huge comeback appearing on celebs and models around the globe.

It’s a definite wardrobe essential and can be worn both casually with a pair of shorts, or as an elegant addition to an evening look.

Go for classic black, or adapt the look with other neutral colours like cream, white or navy.

Lauren

We love this CHANEL inspired jacket we spotted on LAUREN.

Valleygirl cardigan

For this look on a budget, we found this navy cardigan at VALLEYGIRL at ROBINA TOWN CENTRE for just $19.95.

Madison

Expect to see plenty more wide-leg pants over the next few months as this top trend makes it way from the catwalk into our local stores. MADISON shows us how it’s done in these fun, floaty mink pink trousers from THE COIN LAUNDRY on James Street in Burleigh.

 WHAT MADISON’S WEARING

Top: Silent Theory available at THE COIN LAUNDRY, Pants: MINK PINK from THE COIN LAUNDRY, Shoes: CITY BEACH

We love this shirt dress from ALL ABOUT LILA in SURFERS PARADISE for $59.00. Add a pair of jeans or leggings and it’ll take you through to the colder months.

With the MAGIC MILLIONS only a few days away, you may have already chosen a headpiece. If you haven’t we thought we’d give you a helping hand.

We spoke to milliner, CHRISTIE STOKES from CHRISTIE MILLINERY DESIGNS for some tips on what to look for this season.

What should people be going for – hats or fascinators?
I don’t actually like the term fascinators! To Milliners it denotes cheap, tacky bits of fluff glued together! But if it was hats or headpieces, it really depends on the person, their style and their face shape.

Headpieces are definitely more popular within the younger generation whereas my older clients still prefer to go for the more traditional hat.

Do you think big hats will come back in?
I hope so! Anna Mott (racing fashion guru) started a blog last year called “2012, the year of the hat” because of the large international focus on hats last year. With the Royal Wedding, Lady Gaga and Madonna bringing headpieces back on the map, in addition to headpieces and hats featuring on all the international runways, I think it’s time to embrace big hats in Australia!

Should people choose a headpiece then match and outfit to it or vice versa?
I always recommend buying the dress first.  You can then get a bespoke piece to match it perfectly.

I spotted these pants at TIGHTROPE at Pacific Fair for $4! I don’t think you get much more of a bargain buy than that!

How gorgeous are these pastel jackets I spotted at SEED at MARINA MIRAGE. They are on sale for $47.97, but you’ll have to get there quickly as there weren’t many left!

Here are a few of our favourites.

FLORALS

Summery flowers are being seen all over the runway and it’s a great look for an evening of fun. Choose bold, bright blooms or go for mix-and-match suits to get extra wear once the festive season is over.

Right now we can’t get enough of floral jeans.

Celebs like MIRANDA KERR (above) know exactly how to rock this girly trend –  the perfect look for an easy day to night transition. The style is so summery, so fresh and so now.

We love these BEC & BRIDGE Rosetta Jeans we found for $280 at DESIGNER FORUM in Robina Town Centre.

If you’re finding the weather too warm for jeans, try the same gorgeous print in the skirt for instant glam.

Summer is rolling around and, as we all know, nothing beats living on the Gold Coast at this time of the year. Days spent at the beach, afternoon BBQs and hot balmy nights surrounded by great company. It’s the season to call on everything fun, vibrant and free.

Below are my four”must have’s” for surviving Gold Coast heat in style:

Ksubi from Joy Hysteric

  PRINTS

Bold, brazen and confident prints are absolutely everywhere this season. From the runway to the streets – it’s a trend that anyone can pull off. Floral, geographic, stripes, tribal and abstract, prints come in a pattern to suit any mood of the week. My favourite print? The tropics, Joy Hysteric in Broadbeach have just received my favourite Ksubi pieces featuring hibiscus’s and palm trees which shout summertime in Queensland.

Sass & Bide from Designer Forum (left), Ksubi at Joy Hysteric

 DENIM SHORTS

The humble denim short has been a wardrobe staple since Daisy Duke flaunted hers on our small screens. It provides the basis to any outfit and is a piece that you can take from the beach to the bar. This is a summer essential and my picks this season are One Teaspoon, Ksubi and Sass and Bide. Nothing screams Gold Coast summer quite like rockin’ a good pair of denim shorts.

Hot shades from the Sunglass Hut

SUNGLASSES

Every woman needs an amazing pair of statement sunglasses on high rotation. My picks for this season are mirrored, cat-eye, retro and as always, the aviator and wayfarer styles are forever in style. No matter how well put together a outfit, without a great pair of sunglasses to finish it off, your look could fall short of fabulous! Sunglass Hut have all my favourites this summer so get in there to pick your perfect pair.

Witchery Nail Polish

NEON NAILS

And how could we forget one of my favourite beauty must haves for the warmer months… neon nails. Neon is a major trend coming through the runways, seen in block colours, on bags or in bright pops of colour. However, my favourite neon look is on the nails. It complements even the brightest of outfits and gives the overall look that you’re carefree, yet polished.

The mercury is rising and the sun is out so it’s time update your spring wardrobe with a few light and breezy dresses.

We took our lovely models EMMA WILSON and JESSICA STEVENS from SASS MANAGEMENT to KOMUNE RESORT in Coolangatta to show you some of the top trends for this season.

PASTELS

Beautiful, light pastel hues were seen all over the runway this season. We not complaining; these soft colours are a gorgeous, flattering look that suit most skin tones.

HEAD-TO-TOE PRINTS

Prints are a huge trend this season. Go full head-to-toe in one fabric or mix your patterns. Either way, you’re onto a winner!
