We are so jealous we couldn’t be at the Mercedes Benz Sydney Fashion Week but luckily we have the next best thing. Gold Coast model and TV reporter GRACE MAY had the enviable job of covering the event for online fashion television, FASHION ONE. She’s let us share some of her behind the scene snaps as she mingled with the who’s who of the industry.

Grace, it must have been an amazing experience? What did you do while you were there?
53 Runway Shows in 5 days, not to mention after parties, MBFW was INSANE! During the week I interviewed Aurelio Costarella, Tot Et Moi designer Gill Lawrence, Tullulah designer Kelli Wharton, Bec and Bridge designers Bec and Bridge, Kooey designer Nikki , Miss Universe Australia co-designer Scherri Lee Biggs, Susan Rep, Bowie Wong and those are just the ones I remember.

What can you tell us about next seasons trends?
This year was a little different to those before quite a few of the names you expect to see where absent, but there was an amazing number of talented new designers. This Spring/Summer season had a lot of crisp whites and florals typical of spring/summer seen at Zimmerman, Bowie and Christopher Esber. Then  in contrast to that, neon was a big theme coming through at Kooey, Suboo, Ash To Gold and Tovah from the new gen showcases and quite a few of the innovators.

Your job sounds great. What does it involve?
My job as Editor involves sourcing great Australian and New Zealand designers, talent and creatives. We then get inspiration from them for content for our Fashion One Channels internationally, as well as our Digital Magazine which will be available to download from I-tunes in July. Presenting/reporting is simply a part of that process, possibly my favorite part, talking to amazingly creative people and learning about what inspires them, where they began, where they hope to go!

Thanks for the photos, Grace! We love them – it feels like we were there with you!
