With her luscious dark locks and big brown eyes, CARLA JENKINS could easily be mistaken for a model. So it’s no wonder on her second day of work her photo made the cover of the Gold Coast Bulletin.

The Marketing and Events Coordinator moved to the Coast from South Africa with her family ten years ago. She’s put her flare for fashion to good use working in marketing for online fashion sites before joining the Gold Coast Turf Club.

We caught up with the glamorous brunette for some style tips.

1. How would you describe your style?

I have a very classic but simple style. Less is more! I am obsessed with high waisted shorts, skirts and jeans and love a little vintage crop top. I love colour and looking fresh, especially in Summer.

2. What’s the best advice you could give us for dressing for the races?

Don’t wear a short short dress, rather go for the sophisticated look. Pretend you’re meeting your boyfriends parents for the first time! Always wear red or bring pink lipstick.

3. Fascinator or hat?

Definitely an oversized hat, I think it looks classic and elegant.

4. Do you ever shop online?

Yes I love online shopping, especially as I don’t have time to shop during the week or weekends. I know so many boutique online stores from my previous job (as a Marketing Coordinator for online fashion stores and magazines), my friends call me the online shopping queen! I am a simple size 8 so I haven’t had any dramas regarding sizing.

5. Have you ever had an embarrassing fashion moment?

Yes, I was asked to do a quick photo shoot with the Bulletin on my second day of work. I had a friend’s dress in my car so quickly put it on and it was SO short!! The photos were on the front page of the Bulletin and our Facebook page and there were so many comments on how short the dress was. WANTED.TO.DIE.

6. What are you wearing in this photo (middle one)?

I was wearing a white dress from Princess Polly and you can wear it in so many different ways. You can dress it up (like I did) or wear it over a bikini – I love it!

7. What is the craziest thing you’ve ever done?

Booked my ticket to South Africa and left the next day to see my friends who I hadn’t seen in five years – was the best four weeks of my life.

8. What fashion item could you not live without?

A LBD (little black dress)

9. How long does it take you to get ready in the morning?

Honestly, it takes me ten minutes or less to get ready.

  1. It‘s quite in here! Why not leave a response?
