You may not have heard of DANI BONNOR (yet!), but chances are you’ve seen her face! This successful model has not only worked for some of the country’s leading brands (Myer, Billabong, Alex Perry to name a few), she’s also appeared on numerous billboards and even on the side of buses for some major campaigns.

We caught up with the statuesque Kingscliff local to find out what she’s learnt about style after her years working in the world of fashion.

How long have you been modelling for?
I’ve been modelling for eight years in both Australia and New Zealand. I’ve been lucky enough to work for Myer, Calvin Klein, Alex Perry, Coca Cola, Chanel, VO5 Hair, Ipod, Billabong, Jets Swimwear, 2Chillies Swimwear, Seafolly, Blessed Are The Meek, and many more. This year I have gained sponsorship with the amazing Kylie’s Professional mineral makeup.

What is the funniest thing that’s happened to you while modelling?
Getting my heel stuck in the ONE single hole on stage at a bridal show. How’s my luck. Trying to be elegant and here I am completely stuck in the stage!

Is modelling as glamorous as people think it is?
I have been in the modelling industry for years and I can say it is very glamorous, just not all aspects. People don’t know half of what happens at a shoot or a runway show. They only see the finished product. Behind the scenes you’ll find chaos! Models will be dressing and undressing frantically so they can enter the runway on time; makeup is being applied, wiped off and reapplied again; hair teased, straightened, pulled and teased again. Some castings you can wait for hours before you have your turn. Be prepared to be patient, have a tough skin when being rejected for jobs and look after your hair and skin.

What is the best thing about modelling?
Getting the opportunity to travel and meet new and interesting people is a definite highlight. I love how one day is so different to the next – no job is ever the same. I also love being creative and bringing ideas to life.

What is the worst thing about modelling?
Rejection. You need to develop a tough skin in this industry.

How would you describe your style?
My style is clean, fresh and girly. This winter I’m a big fan of blazers, crochet lace tops and skinny jeans. On my days off I like to keep things simple by wearing black skinny jeans with a girly top. If I want to dress it up, I’ll team this with a nice scarf, blazer and cute little boots.

Do you have a style icon?
Yes, I adore Blake Lively. She always looks classy and elegant.

If you could swap wardrobes with anyone who would it be?
Again, Blake Lively. Well actually her character Serena on Gossip Girl. Absolutely love her style. She can throw anything on and make it look effortlessly fabulous.

What was your best and worst fashion buy?
My best fashion buy would have to be my black skinny jeans I bought from Jeans West. My worst fashion buy would be my red granny sunglasses. I thought they looked cool at the time and now I cringe seeing any photos of me with them on. What was I thinking?

What is the best fashion advice you could give someone?
Be yourself. Have your own personal style.

What is your favourite fashion shop on the Gold Coast?
My wardrobe is filled with styles from Dissh, Bardot, Forever New and Kookai. These stores suit my style and personality.

When I’m not working I’m… Networking, chasing new clients, running and drinking soy cappucino’s!

I’ve been told I look like… Katie Holmes! I can’t even count how many times i have been told i look like her.

My favourite food is… Vietnamese rice paper rolls..amazing! I make them once a week at least.

I listen to… at the moment alot of dance and  R’n’B music while i’m running. A good beat always pumps me up to run further!

My favourite TV show is.. Friends were, and are, my favorite TV show of all time. I grew up with them and own all 10 seasons and have watched it over and over.

My favourite book is… I’ve enjoyed reading Tara Moss’s books. I love the suspense in her novels. I am kept at the edge of my chair!

In five years I hope to be… On the other side of the camera. I’d love to start my own business in photography and also move more into TV commercial work. I also see myself married to my lovely man, and hopefully building our second house.

In ten years I hope to be…Happy, healthy and successful!
