Scanlan & Theodore

After a technical hiccup on Saturday forced a last minute cancellation, there was a sigh of relief when this time round the MBFF GROUP SHOW went off without a hitch.

Featuring some of Australia’s top designers this was a must-do events. A bumper crowd turned up to see “take two” of this much anticipated parade, and they weren’t disappointed. SCANLAN & THEODORE were an absolute stand out with their beautifully crafted, classic designs. GINGER & SMART wowed with their neon inspired collection while AKIRA awed with muted tones and soft, flowing cuts.

Here are the main trends from this show:

– If there is one colour to invest in this Summer/Spring, it’s orange.

– Florals aren’t as big as they were last season (although they’re still around), geometric prints are a huge trend.

– Go block colours.

– Neons are still around, but generally the palette was more muted – khakis, creams and blacks and blues were all spotted.

– Clothes are glamorous and elegant. There were a lot of flowing dresses, skirts and kaftans. There was also fifties glam; think Katherine Hepburn style in pants, jackets and tailored, knee-length skirts.
